Hey Reader,
It's not always the "bad guys" that lock you out of your computer..
Security is all about risk.
How risk tolerant are you?
If you aren't scared of anything - you likely don't have antivirus installed, use the same easy password for everything, and are oblivious to all things cybersecurity...
If you are scared of everything - you have antivirus, use a vpn, a password manager, 2fa everything, and make sure no one is watching when you are typing secure info...
In the case of the CrowdStrike fiasco, companies that opted to secure themselves with the Falcon product were locked out of their windows devices. Some are still recovering today.
This is why it is good to think about Business Continuity.
- What happens if you can't access your computer?
- How long can you survive without it?
- Do you have a backup of files elsewhere?
If you had to get work done, and had planned for the possibility of losing your device (to theft or failure), you'd be in a much better place than the person that is oblivious to it all.
Thanks,
Tom
